CHI-WEN

廊桥镇楼神兽

The Chi-Wen is the six son of the dragon and is commonly placed on the roof of Chinese buildings to protect people and houses from ghosts and fires. In addition, people believe that Chi-Shou will bring great harvests and fortune for their families. No matter how big or grand the building, a Chi-Wen on the roof is a sign of status.

THE ARCHITECT

Design and Environment

The interior of THE BRIDGE was created by the founding partners of the awardwinning international design agency Neri & Hu Design and Research Office, Lyndon Neri and Rossana Hu.

Founded in Shanghai and with an office in London, Neri & Hu has won multiple international awards over the years, including Interior Designer of the Year from Wallpaper* magazine in 2014 and Best Interior Designer at the Elle Decor International Design Awards in 2017.

THE BRIDGE
Chengdu, China

The restaurant is their first project in southwest China. The design concept envisions a “hanging lantern” to recall the clarity and unity of the historic building in all its grandeur. The resulting design inserts within the river landscape a luminous and translucent glass lantern, creating an envelope to mask a series of conceptualized objects to enrich and intensify the sensual experience for every guest. Throughout the restaurant, imagery of Chinese mythological creatures offers a tangible link with the history of Anshun Bridge and Chengdu as a whole.

Seating 270 guests over two floors, THE BRIDGE is divided into the 150-seat Salon de Bridge dining room, the reception lounge, and two private dining rooms, ʻHanging Lanternʼ and ʻThe Currents.ʼ The private dining rooms can be transformed to accommodate a variety of different events, seating up to 120 people. THE BRIDGE BAR, with seating for 47, offers a glamorous hint of yesteryear and boasts a second floor open terrace with sweeping river views.
